Magento 2 eCommerce Platform Characteristics and Review for November 2021

Magento 2 eCommerce Platform Characteristics and Review for 2021

Magento is one of the world's most popular CMSs for online stores. Like most other eCommerce platforms, it is based on PHP frameworks, Zend Framework and MySQL. Magento is an open-source platform and is distributed under Open Software License (OSL).

The software was originally developed by Varien Inc., the CEOs of which were Roy Rubin and Yoav Kuttner. The first version of Magento started its development in 2007, and 7 months later it had the first public beta version released. A year later, the first general availability of software was published by Varien.

Throughout the years, first, eBay acquired Magento. Then they sold the company to Permira, a British global investment firm. Later, Permira sold Magento to Adobe Inc., which owns it up to date.

Magento 2.0 was released in 2015. The features that were changed/added to this new version are the following:

  • reduced table locking issues,
  • improved page caching,
  • enterprise-grade scalability,
  • inbuilt rich snippets for structured data,
  • new file structure with easier customization,
  • CSS Preprocessing using LESS & CSS URL resolver,
  • improved performance,
  • better structured code base.

Let’s move on and discuss Magento 2 advantages in the next chapter below.

Benefits of Magento 2

Using the CMS Magento 2 platform, it is possible to create several webshops and manage their work from one admin panel, which saves a lot of time and effort.

During the creation of such webshops, a function is included that allows the use of international currencies. It is possible to convert them without leaving the online store.

The capabilities of Magento 2 allow you to create a modern and fairly user-friendly directory. Additional categories and functions can be added to it. Magento 2 allows you to:

  • create a detailed description of the product,
  • add a certain number of images to each product,
  • combine a number of products according to specific criteria,
  • bind products to a position,
  • add specialized characteristics,
  • familiarize with the warehouse balances, etc.

Another advantage of this platform is the presence of a bunch of built-in functions that allow you to make the most efficient use of the structure. Some of such elements are currency, languages, discounts, promotions, purchase coupons, reports, templates, and extensions.

It is very easy to work with the prices of goods using Magento 2. It allows you to reduce the cost of goods for any period of time, make a discount for a certain client, select regular customers and arrange a special offer for them. This feature helps to improve ratings and sales.

We’ll talk about Magento 2 again and again in our articles, but now, let us introduce you to an integration solution that Wedoio developed. It’s called Magento 2 to Uniconta integration solution.

The integration synchronizes the individual item data between Uniconta and Magento 2 (item no., item name, sales price, short/long description). Wedoio's Uniconta - Magento 2 integration supports the use of categories and tags, item and gallery images. Inventory changes are updated from Uniconta to Magento 2. Customers are synchronized both ways, and orders are synchronized from Magento 2 to Uniconta. When the sales order is invoiced in Uniconta, the order is placed as executed in Magento 2.

You can read more about it by visiting our Magento 2 - Uniconta integration solution page.
